About Us
With the goal of empowering neuro-diverse individuals to develop confidence and learn social, athletic, and life skills, nonprofit organization Easy Hoops was founded. Easy Hoops is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a safe environment for individuals to be themselves, try new things, meet other individuals, succeed, regardless of their skills or abilities, and develop life and social skills through a unifying platform of basketball.
We empower our participants to learn valuable life skills – patience, courage, perseverance and teamwork. In our time together, we learn the meaning of these virtues, consider examples, and focus our lesson around these values, incorporating them into skills necessary to play the game. In this way, we can offer more than just basketball skills; we strive to offer life skills that can be applied to all parts of the participant's life.
Easy Hoops' coaches have experience working with individuals of all ages and abilities. If you have any questions, please contact us or fill out a form on our Contact page! We can't wait to work with you!
Our Mission
By offering a welcoming environment, our goal is to empower everyone to be their best. Whether it is learning about basketball, gaining a sense of teamwork and camaraderie, or getting lost in conversation about life, our mission is to help everyone "shoot for their best self".
We use basketball as a platform to unify all people we work with in a safe and fun atmosphere.
Success means different things to different people. We want you to define your own success.
Beginnings
Easy Hoops’ Founder, Ethan Rosen, with his sister, Coco.
Basketball has always been a huge part of my life because of its sense of community and the way it unifies many different types of people.
I am also an active member of the Autism Speaks Community and other foundations that support individuals with various intellectual and physical disabilities. I am passionate about fundraising and raising awareness for causes like these.
Simultaneously, through working in both my community and my junior and high schools’ special education departments, I came to understand the scarcity of programs developed for individuals with disabilities: these are the programs that strive to conform to the participants’ and their families’ abilities and preferences – in contrast to the programs that better support neurotypical individuals. The lack of flexible opportunities for individuals with special needs is a problem that both my family and community have faced – and will continue to face – until someone strives to make a change.
I started Easy Hoops in September 2017 to provide neurodiverse individuals with a welcoming, individualized environment focused on empowering participants to develop life and social skills through basketball. Our coaches and mentors work with all ages and abilities, including people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Each lesson incorporates different values and life skills. We strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment, spread the love for basketball, and inspire everyone to "shoot for their best self." Easy Hoops is a 501(c)(3) organization.
I am doing this to make a difference in individuals’ lives by helping to provide more opportunities to succeed and become their best selves.
Thank you for support, and, as always, "shoot for your best self!"
